What is the Divine Frequency Early Access roadmap?
Divine Frequency by Abraxaes entered Steam Early Access October 26, 2026. The Steam EA FAQ is the roadmap: ~4–6 hours, two of three acts now; Act 3, polish, and Hardcore Mode (reworked health, damage, upgrades—rules unpublished) at 1.0. EA targets ~one year, maybe two; price unchanged at 1.0—all future work planned, not guaranteed.
AppID 2548880 ships about 70% of the main game with all weapons and modifications and most character progression today. For playtime and genre context, see how long to beat; for buy/wait guidance, see is Divine Frequency worth it.
What ships now vs. what is planned at 1.0?
| Deliverable | Early Access (observed scope) | Full release (FAQ — planned) |
|---|---|---|
| Acts / chapters | 2 of 3 | Third act/chapter |
| Hours (dev estimate) | ~4–6 | More total with Act 3 + additions |
| Arsenal | All weapons & mods (names not listed publicly) | Additional builds/content per FAQ |
| Progression | Most character levels | Remaining progression |
| Enemies & bosses | EA roster | New enemies and bosses |
| Audio & story | EA soundtrack + story beats | New music and story |
| Tech | EA performance/bugs | Performance and bug fixes |
| Difficulty | Standard modes in EA | Hardcore Mode (reworked health/damage/upgrades — details TBD) |
The FAQ’s full-game bullet list also promises new builds alongside enemies, bosses, music, and story—exact feature splits are not broken down further in the store text we captured on 2026-10-28.
Hardcore Mode: what we know and what we do not
Steam’s EA FAQ is the only official Hardcore description we can quote responsibly:
- Planned for full release, not EA launch.
- Intended for veterans of the experience.
- Will touch health, damage, weapon upgrades, and related systems—wording is broad.
There is no published list of Hardcore modifiers, save rules, or difficulty toggles. Do not trust third-party wikis that invent permadeath or economy resets; those details are not documented yet. When Abraxaes posts patch notes or a dedicated mode overview, this page should be updated with dates.
If you are buying EA purely for Hardcore, wait—standard EA already consumes ~4–6 hours in two acts per the FAQ, and archetype planning for the current game is in best builds: Wits, Strength, Physique.
Schedule risk and development context (brief)
A March 29, 2026 Steam transparency announcement (major spoiler context in the original post) stated that ACT-2 writing remained incomplete after the passing of lead writer Pablo “Artistical” Lamprea on April 1, 2025, and noted a sound asset scam in October 2025 that forced redo work. We mention this only as schedule-risk context for why the FAQ allows up to two years in EA—not to summarize plot. Acts naming in dev posts uses ACT-2 language while the store FAQ alternates Acts and chapters for the 2 of 3 split.
The last demo patch before EA was dated June 22, 2026 on Steam announcements. As of 2026-10-28, we did not find Early Access launch-day patch notes or a build ID in the Steam news API—treat missing changelog data as a documentation gap, not proof that no bugs were fixed silently.
Why Early Access instead of a silent 1.0?
The FAQ’s stated reasons align with a long public demo cycle:
- Community feedback materially improved the demo over time. The free trial is a separate Steam app from EA—see demo vs Early Access for AppID 2641750, patch dates, and what is not documented about save carryover.
- This is Abraxaes’s first game, increasing launch risk.
- Early Access avoids the “nightmare scenario” of a broken full launch while Act 3 and polish remain in flight.
That framing matches why EA still sells a complete weapon/mod toolkit inside a short act count—see the hour and act math in how long to beat.
How to track updates responsibly
